Napoli have reportedly presented Lazio with the first concrete offer for Mario Gila, but it fell short of the mark.
The 25-year-old is attracting interest from all over Europe, especially with his contract expiring next year. However, the Partenopei emerged as the ultimate frontrunners in the race. The defender is said to be adamant about leaving the club and embarking on a new experience, so it’s up to Napoli to satisfy Lazio president Claudio Lotito.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Napoli’s opening bid was worth €15 million, but it was swiftly rejected by the Aquile, who have set their asking price at €30 million. It should be noted that Gila’s former club, Real Madrid, is entitled to receive 50% of the profit made by Lazio.
The source believes the Partenopei could try to tempt Lazio by adding a player in exchange, potentially on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Pedulla names three candidates beginning with Rafa Marin. The 24-year-old is a Real Madrid youth product who joined Napoli in 2025. He spent his campaign on loan at Villarreal, but will return to Naples this summer. However, the report believes the club prefers to keep the Spanish defender
The second name mentioned is Sam Beukema, a 27-year-old centre-back who made a name for himself in Serie A during his time at Bologna. The Dutchman joined the Azzurri last summer, but struggled to leave his mark under Antonio Conte. The player remains highly-regarded by the club, but he could be seeking an exit.
Finally, Napoli could propose Lorenzo Lucca, a striker who is reportedly appreciated by Gennaro Gattuso. The former Udinese centre-forward struggled for playing time after making the move to Napoli last summer, and he also endured a forgettable six-month loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
