There’s some substance to the rumors about Manchester United offering a trade between Victor Osimhen and Joshua Zirkzee, but Napoli aren’t particularly enthused by the idea. They’d rather cash in fully on the Nigerian striker, even if they’ll have to wait until the summer, Il Mattino informs (via Eurosport).
Despite Galatasaray downplaying the possibility of a January departure, it’ll depend on the offers. The suitors will have to talk with the Turkish outfit too. Another transfer will be possible if a team activates the striker’s release clause.
Napoli would prefer to get the full price for Osimhen, from Manchester United or another side, than Zirkzee. They’d get €30M in such a scenario. Their position also derives from the fact that they are in advanced talks to sign Ange-Yoan Bonny. He has the same agent as Romelu Lukaku and Alex Meret, Federico Pastorello. It’ll be hard to convince Parma to let him go midseason, though.
Rather than tweaking the frontline, Antonio Conte has asked for some reinforcements in the back. The Azzurri are keen on Jaka Bijol in addition to Ko Itakura. Moreover, they are openly pursuing Patrick Dorgu. If they won the pricey race, they’d look to bring him in right away rather than let him finish the season at Lecce.
The Azzurri spent a lot last summer anticipating selling the marksman, so their stance is understandable. Furthermore, it wouldn’t be savvy for the Bologna star to go to another team where he wouldn’t be the clear top option. He’s overqualified and too expensive to be a deputy in Serie A.
