Napoli weighing up move for ex-Juventus striker Vlahovic if Lukaku leaves | OneFootball

Dusan Vlahovic remains without a club almost a month after leaving Juventus, but reports in Italy claim that Napoli could potentially make a move for the Serbia international if Romelu Lukaku ends up leaving the Stadio Maradona this summer.

Could Napoli reunite Vlahovic with former Juventus head coach Allegri?

Vlahovic has been a free agent for the last few weeks after seeing his contract with Juventus expire on June 30. The Bianconeri had made several attempts to get the 26-year-old to commit to a new deal, but were ultimately unable to come to an agreement before the contract deadline.

There had been suggestions that Vlahovic was holding out for a move to a top side in the Premier League or LaLiga, but as things stand, the only concrete interest has reportedly come from Besiktas.

According to Saturday’s updates from Tuttosport, Juventus have still not entirely closed the door on Vlahovic yet, but it would still take a significant set of compromises from both sides if an agreement is to be struck.

There could, however, still be another option for Vlahovic in Serie A away from Turin. That is because Napoli could be on the search for a new centre-forward this summer, especially if they part company with Lukaku and the unwanted Lorenzo Lucca.

If both Lukaku and Lucca were to leave, Rasmus Hojlund would be left as Napoli’s only senior option at centre-forward. According to Tuttosport, Vlahovic could then become a genuine possibility for the Partenopei.

Vlahovic is well known to new Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri, who had coached the Serbian at Juventus and had made attempts to bring him to Milan during the previous summer transfer window. Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna also held talks with Vlahovic’s father-agent at the beginning of June.
