Stefan de Vrij hailed Inter Milan’s overall performance in tonight’s Champions League triumph at Feyenoord.
Speaking to Prime via FCInterNews, the Dutchman acknowledged the Nerazzurri had to recover from a slow start.
Despite missing several first-team stars, Inter claimed an all-important 2-0 win at De Kuip.
Indeed, Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez inspired the Nerazzurri to a landslide victory.
El Toro made history tonight, becoming Inter’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League.
However, Piotr Zielinski wasted a second-half penalty that could’ve ended this two-legged tie in Rotterdam.
Nevertheless, it was a positive step after several underwhelming domestic showings.
Manager Simone Inzaghi has plenty of reason for optimism ahead of Saturday’s home league clash against Monza.
For Stefan de Vrij, this match had an additional value.
Indeed, he returned to Feyenoord, where he started his professional career as an opponent.

“Yes, I’m emotional and very grateful to the Feyenoord fans for how they welcomed me,” he stated.
“They will always be in my heart.”
“We knew it was going to be tough. In the first 20-25 minutes, we were imprecise.
“They were good at creating some chances, even though they weren’t huge.
“Then we scored and came into the second half much better. We could have scored a third, while they only hit the crossbar.
“It’s a great result.”
Furthermore, De Vrij praised Inter’s defensive resilience after another clean sheet in the Champions League.
“Yes, we’ve done very well in the Champions League,” he added.
“Everyone participates, and that’s very important. We need to keep going like this.”
It was Inter’s eighth shutout in nine continental fixtures this season, cementing them as the best defensive team in Europe.
