Netherlands World Cup squad: De Roon, Malen and Dumfries named as De Vrij misses out | OneFootball

Ronald Koeman has confirmed his final 26-man Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup, headlined by Memphis Depay’s recovery and the omission of Stefan de Vrij.

According to Football Italia, Depay has overcome a muscular problem and the Corinthians striker, the nation’s all-time top scorer, will spearhead the attack with Roma’s Donyell Malen.

Inter’s Denzel Dumfries is included despite an active release clause this summer. Atalanta’s Marten de Roon returns after missing national duty since March 2024, and Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners also makes it despite a difficult season in Turin. Arsenal’s Jurriën Timber is selected amid fitness concerns.

De Vrij’s exclusion is among the major talking points, with the Inter defender’s uncertain club future said to have possibly influenced Koeman’s plans. Joey Veerman is also left out after recent public disagreements with the coach.

Jerdy Schouten and Xavi Simons miss out through injury, and Justin Kluivert is recalled to cover the creative gap left by Simons’ anterior cruciate ligament damage.
