Bayern won their home game against FC St. Pauli 3-1 late on. After the game, Manuel Neuer spoke about the record champions‘ performance
FC Bayern struggled against a passionate St. Pauli defence on Saturday afternoon, but summer signings Luis Diaz and Nicolas Jackson finally redeemed the Bundesliga leaders. After the game, Manuel Neuer was asked about the performance of the reigning German champions
Speaking on Sky, the five-time world goalkeeper said: „Belief was the key. We deserved to win. [St. Pauli] naturally push through well and aggressively, so you often have to play directly. We often found the gaps, and luck wasn’t on our side today with the aluminum goals.“

Neuer also commented: „We had a bit of a downturn with the draw and the Arsenal defeat. But otherwise we’re doing well and we’re trying to achieve everything.“ The record champions will continue their DFB Cup campaign next Wednesday evening when they host Vincent Kompany’s side Union Berlin in the round of 16
Bayern have struggled there of late, dropping points in the Bundesliga with a 2-2 draw. Apart from that, Munich have won all their league games so far. As RB Leipzig were held to a 0-0 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday evening, the gap to second place is now eight points
Bayern are therefore fully on course for the autumn championship. Last Wednesday evening, Munich lost a game for the first time this season, suffering a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal FC. However, FC Bayern are also on target in the Champions League as things stand, with Kompany’s team in impressive form for some time now.
