New Barcelona manager Hansi Flick outlines plan for Gavi’s return | OneFootball

An update on the fitness and well-being of Barcelona teenager Gavi has been provided today by new manager Hansi Flick.

Gavi is set to return to the Barca squad ahead of the new La Liga campaign, however those at the club want his return to be steady. The midfielder suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee last November, while on international duty for Spain, and he has been sidelined since then.

However, Gavi has now made significant progress in his recovery from this serious injury and the youngster has his sights firmly on winning back his position in the starting lineup. Before his injury, he was one of the first names on the team sheet alongside his midfielder partner Pedri.

Although Gavi is still lacking match fitness, he was recently spotted in training for the first time in several months. He was back on the grass and was seen doing some work with the ball.

When asked about Gavi’s return, Flick was quick to highlight his importance to the team, but reiterated the need to be patient and take care of the player.

He said: “When Gavi is on the field, he is on fire! He wants to return, but we must give him time and take care of him.

“He is doing well, he is a professional player and everyone will help him come back”. Let’s hope he plays 10/15 more years for Barça.”
