Frank Lampard has a contract with Coventry City until the end of 2026/27
Coventry City are closing in on automatic promotion to the Premier League under Frank Lampard.
The Sky Blues reached the play-offs in two of the last three campaigns, but were unable to secure their return to the top flight.
The 47-year-old took charge at the CBS Arena in November 2024 following Mark Robins’ departure, and he led the team to a fifth place finish in the league.
The former Chelsea manager signed a deal until June 2027, meaning he is now set to enter the final 12 months of his current contract.
Lampard’s impressive work at Coventry has garnered a lot of attention, and it has led to him being linked with the impending vacancy at Crystal Palace, with Oliver Glasner set to depart at the end of the campaign.
He has also been tipped to take over at Chelsea for a third stint in place of Liam Rosenior amid mounting pressure on the 41-year-old.

Owner Doug King has claimed that he has yet to hold contract talks with Lampard amid speculation over his long-term future with the club, hinting that it’s unlikely to come up until at least the end of the current campaign.
He has questioned why there is a need to discuss new terms when they already agreed a deal until June 2027, suggesting there’s no need for talks just yet, particularly with the team so close to getting over the line and winning promotion.
“You know we did a contract with Frank at the beginning,” said King, via Coventry Live.
“I always find it amusing, you give somebody a contract for like a lot of years and then some years into it they want another chat about a contract.
“You know, why do we do it when we could have just done it a couple of years and then have another chat?
“The reality is, you know, we don’t go into that at this point.
“And I think this is a moment to have no distractions on absolutely anything.”
He believes that now is not the time for contract talks, highlighting the recent extensions of Milan van Ewijk, Liam Kitching and Jay Dasilva as an example of when it was right to renew terms.
“There are periods for contract discussions, and everyone saw we did a few extensions with some of the boys recently,” he added.
“That was a moment then, now is a moment for totally different things.”
The trio of Coventry players all agreed new contracts in February of this year when their prior deals were all set to expire in 2027.
The Sky Blues have ensured their long-term futures, with the club now on the cusp of ending a 25-year wait for top flight football.
Coventry’s last Premier League campaign came in 2001, and the gap to third place Ipswich Town is now 11 points, with the Tractor Boys having just eight games remaining.
Lampard’s side have won seven of their last eight Championship games, leaving them nine clear of second place Middlesbrough, with both teams having seven fixtures left.
Next up for Coventry is a home clash against Derby County on 3 April in an 8pm kick-off.

Lampard’s contract going into its final 12 months does run the risk of him leaving for a team like Crystal Palace or Chelsea if it runs its course without an extension.
The 47-year-old has done a great job in guiding the team this close to promotion, and they should be able to get over the line from this point, so fans would be very disappointed if he left.
That King and Lampard have not held talks shows that there is no rush on either side to come to fresh terms, so the manager could be happy to leave his options open.
However, perhaps waiting until promotion is officially secured makes some sense, as talks on a new deal could prove distracting, so there’s still every chance that an extension will come in the next few months.
