A new face was noted in the latest first-team training session held by La Liga champions Barcelona on Saturday.
The player in question? Emilio Bernad.
Bernad, for those not familiar with his name, is a 25-year-old goalkeeper.
The Valencia youth product, after a spell on the books of Racing Ferrol in Spain’s 2nd tier, became available as a free agent over the summer.
Barcelona, in turn, snapped the Spaniard up on a free transfer earlier this month.
Bernad is expected to spend the season ahead plying his trade with Barca Atlétic.
As alluded to above, though, on Saturday, the shot-stopper was afforded the chance to showcase his talents with the Blaugrana’s star-studded senior squad.
As per a report from Barca insider Gerard Romero of Jijantes, in a session most notable for the absence of Lamine Yamal, Bernad trained alongside the Catalans’ goalkeeper contingent.
Also present was Frenkie de Jong, as the Dutchman ramps up his recovery from a minor injury setback.
