Ange Postecoglou has insisted he has “nothing to prove” as he embarks on his new role as Nottingham Forest manager, just three months after his Tottenham dismissal.

The Australian was unveiled on Tuesday, a day after Forest parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo, who had overseen 21 months in charge at the City Ground. Postecoglou arrives with a decorated résumé but also with questions lingering from a turbulent tenure at Spurs.

Though Tottenham endured a miserable league campaign last season, finishing 17th after 22 defeats, Postecoglou did guide the club to their first major silverware in nearly two decades with May’s Europa League triumph. His attacking philosophy, often lauded in the early months of his north London reign, eventually came under scrutiny, but the 60-year-old remains steadfast in his approach.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, as reported by BBC Sports, Postecoglou said at his unveiling, “I don’t see it as a point to prove. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone,” Postecoglou said at his unveiling. “I do like my teams to play exciting football and score goals and get fans excited. I make no apologies about that, that’s just the way I am.

Forest’s new era begins with the sternest of tests, as Postecoglou’s side travel to Arsenal on Saturday.
