FC Bayern are increasingly keeping an eye on free agents for the upcoming transfer window, but one player from the Premier League has now also attracted the interest of FC Barcelona
At the end of November, FC Bayern are already in the midst of planning their squad for the coming year, with an increasing number of transfer-free players being targeted by the Munich club, especially as they are unable to generate the kind of high additional income they received from last summer’s Club World Cup
One player who has caught Bayern’s eye is currently playing on the island. Defender Marc Guehi is currently causing a stir in the Premier League. At 1.82 metres tall, the Crystal Palace captain is relatively small for a centre-back, but is impressive with his strength in tackles as well as his good anticipation and calmness on the ball. He is also characterised by his solid passing accuracy in possession
These attributes drew FC Bayern’s attention to the 25-year-old last summer, but a planned transfer fell through at the last minute. As Guehi’s contract with the Eagles expires next year and he would be available on a free transfer, the German record champions could soon make another attempt to lure him to the Isar
The strong performances of the 26-time England international, who was born in the Ivory Coast, have not gone unnoticed by other top clubs

After a move to Real Madrid fell through, Bayern now have competition from their arch-rivals in Madrid: As reported by Spanish radio station Cadena SER, FC Barcelona are also keeping a close eye on the centre-back. The Catalans want to stabilize their defence and see Guehi as the missing piece of the puzzle. German coach Hansi Flick has even declared him a „top priority“ for next summer’s transfer window
For Barça, however, a transfer of the right-footer, who is mainly at left-back, is likely to be just as complicated as for Bayern. According to the Spanish source, Liverpool FC are the favourites in the transfer poker for Guehi, who has a market value of €50 million according to Transfermarkt.de. The „Reds“ have „as good as made it“ and a move within the Premier League seems likely
The two FCBs would probably have to make a real effort to convince Guehi to transfer to their club.
