‘A brilliant game of Premier League football that we have come out of on the wrong side.

Didn’t deserve to lose and plenty for us to be proud of.

The league table doesn’t reflect where we are really at and good things are coming.

Hard defeat to take but next game is Newcastle in the Champions League, that’s enough to make me smile (well in a few hours anyway!)”

‘Sickening.

I was so looking forward to Arteta’s interview when it looked like we were going to win but the channel was instantly changed at full time.

A game where the opposition threw themselves around at the slightest touch and then dragged our lot down continuously.

I can’t decide which team out of Arsenal and Liverpool I’d least like to be champions.

To lose to both of them at St James’ is hard to take.

Would love to see Ramsdale come in for the midweek match.

Pope made some fantastic saves today and has had a solid start to the season. I think he could have at least dived for the equaliser though and feel he was fully at fault for the second.

We look so much more assured with the ball when we can give it to Ramsdale and know that it’s not going to be launched out for a throw or directly to the opposition.

Not trying to single Pope out and scapegoat him but it would be interesting to see a run of games for Ramsdale.’

Simon Ritter:

‘What a sickening blow.

Not just to our season but to Livramento, felled by a cynical barge while winning the ball in the air.

The foul caused Tino to leave the pitch on a stretcher and tilted the match in favour of the dirty Woolwich.

Anyone who says the victory was deserved, ignores the rule that cheats shouldn’t prosper. They did today.’

GToon:

‘Pope kept us in it for most of the game.

That was a hard watch as we were outplayed for the majority of the match.

Looks like being a difficult season.’

Matt Busby said…:

‘Sucker punched and it felt awful. Just awful.

And yet it had been coming.

Pope MOTM had it not been for his ridiculous distribution.

We were beaten by a very good team today.’

Tony Mallabar:

‘Gutted to lose at the end but no lack of effort from everyone in black and white/

Felt for nick pope at the end. But that’s life.

Early night tonight then pack me case because we are off to Brussels on Tuesday morning.’

David Punton:

‘Another Cartel team, another late winner. Cruelty on steroids.

You can’t just sit back on 1-0 though. It is asking for trouble.

So we stay stuck on six points.

It was all after taking the lead too.

The non award of a late penalty – seen them given – ended up being pivotal.

This inability to see off games is a worry. Ever week seems to be a really hard match.

Less than convinced by Eddie’s sub choices today.

Then we have the Tino hammer blow, with what looks a serious knee injury.

It’s been a really bad day for us.’
