Operating primarily as an inside forward on the right flank, the Algerian international enjoyed a standout 2025/26 campaign in the Eredivisie.
Hadj Moussa recorded 13 goals and seven assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, terrorising defences with his low centre of gravity, rapid acceleration, and exceptional one-on-one dribbling.
Dutch legend Marco van Basten has labelled the winger ‘incredible’, so it is no surprise that he is in high demand at both Villa Park and St James’ Park.
For Newcastle, adding unpredictability and dynamism in attack is a top priority for Eddie Howe, especially after the departure of Anthony Gordon.
The Magpies were beaten to the signings of Zadok Yohanna and Victor Munoz by Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool, respectively, leaving them in need of further attacking reinforcements.
Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, are also strong admirers of Hadj Moussa. Fresh off a 2025/26 campaign that saw them lift the Europa League, Villa are seeking more attacking depth ahead of their return to the Champions League.
Securing Hadj Moussa will require a significant financial outlay. Feyenoord hold considerable leverage in negotiations, having tied the 24-year-old to a long-term contract until June 2030.
The Dutch giants have reportedly set a minimum €35 million price tag to open formal talks.
With his agent, Mohamed Dahmane, actively engaging with several European clubs, both Newcastle and Aston Villa will need to act decisively if they hope to land one of the continent’s most exciting wingers.
