Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has now returned to work following a stay in hospital due to illness.
Howe was admitted to hospital late on 11 April and was later diagnosed with pneumonia.
He would miss his side’s games against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, with assistant manager Jason Tindall and coach Graeme Jones instead taking charge of the team.
“Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to his duties at the club’s training centre.” the club said in a statement.
“Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery. We thank supporters for their warm wishes.”
Tindall and Jones led Newcastle to a 4-1 win over United, a 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace and most recently a 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
They are currently fifth in the Premier League, the final Champions League qualification spot, going into Saturday’s game against Ipswich.
It remains to be seen whether Howe will be back in the dugout for the weekend’s clash.
The Magpies have five games remaining to try and secure their return to Champions League football.
They are currently two points ahead of both Chelsea and Aston Villa in sixth and seventh respectively.
After the game against Ipswich, Newcastle then travel to Brighton before hosting fellow Champions League chasers Chelsea in what will likely be a crucial clash to decide who qualifies for Europe’s elite competition next season.
They then travel to Arsenal in their penultimate game of the season before ending the campaign with a home clash against Everton.
Speaking while Howe was absent, his assistant Tindall praised the Newcastle boss for the trust he puts in his staff.
“He put his trust in myself and the rest of the staff and team to be able to make the right decisions day in day out, to hopefully go out and deliver good performances,” he said.
