Newcastle United have told Alexander Isak he will not be sold in this transfer window, according to the Telegraph.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks. His desire to join the Reds has fuelled speculation about a summer transfer.
However, Newcastle have refused to consider any bids for their star forward.
The Magpies have already missed out on several of their transfer targets. They failed to sign Benjamin Sesko, who chose to join Manchester United. Despite this, Newcastle remain determined to keep Isak.
Manager Eddie Howe has reacted firmly to the player’s stance. The Sweden international has been ordered to train away from the first team until he accepts that he will not be leaving.
Liverpool had an offer worth around £120 million rejected last week. The Merseyside club have since withdrawn from negotiations.
Even if the Magpies sign another striker before the deadline, their stance on Isak is not expected to shift.
The move is seen as a bold and high-risk strategy by Newcastle’s Saudi Arabian owners, the Public Investment Fund.
However, they have maintained a consistent position throughout that Isak will remain at the club.
Isak enjoyed an impressive 2024–25 campaign, bagging 27 goals and six assists in 42 matches. His performances have made him one of the most in-demand forwards in the Premier League.
For now, Newcastle’s decision leaves no room for doubt – the Swedish striker will stay at St James’ Park beyond the summer transfer window.
