The winter transfer window closed almost two weeks ago, but clubs are working toward the summer, both incoming and outgoing.
Roma, in particular, is grappling with the situation surrounding Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Both contracts expire in June, and their departure on a free transfer is increasingly likely.
The club’s intention is to significantly reduce the wages of its players, even the most important ones.
Pellegrini’s departure has been rumored for months.
The midfielder is popular both in Serie A, where Napoli has shown interest, and in the Premier League. After an initial inquiry from West Ham, Newcastle United are now reportedly making a serious move for the midfielder.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle see Pellegrini as the ideal replacement for Tonali, who could return to Italy this summer, with Juventus pushing for him.
There’s currently no official offer, but with his renewal still being postponed, the likelihood of seeing Pellegrini in England next summer is increasing.
