Newcastle United conducted checks on Osasuna’s Victor Munoz via his new representatives, Niagara Sports Company, ahead of the summer window, per The Mirror.
Newcastle made those initial enquiries while discussing 17-year-old gem Rafael Belinho.
The Magpies are in the market for a new left winger with Anthony Gordon poised to exit Saint James’ Park this summer, and Munoz is a potential replacement.
Munoz has played himself into the Newcastle transfer shortlist, bagging seven goals and five assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
His performances earned him a call-up to the Spain national team, where he scored on his debut and is on course to follow them to the 2026 World Cup.
However, Newcastle will have to move quickly as they are not alone in the race for his signature.
Aston Villa, Barcelona, and Napoli are suitors. Sunderland’s bid was rejected in January as they tried to snap him up early, while Real Madrid could choose to bring him back.
Newcastle would be making a smart move if they push ahead for Munoz.
He is a nightmare in one-v-one situations, combining explosive acceleration with sharp close control and the confidence to attack defenders relentlessly.
His dribbling numbers already place him among La Liga’s elite, but what makes him especially intriguing is that he also has genuine end product.
Beyond his six league goals, Munoz missed nine big chances, a statistic that actually underlines how dangerous he is.
Players do not consistently rack up those opportunities unless they possess elite movement and an instinct for arriving in threatening areas.
Newcastle currently lack that kind of unpredictable final-third menace outside Gordon.
Munoz still has room to refine his finishing and decision-making, but the raw tools are outstanding.
He fits the aggressive, transition-heavy football Eddie Howe wants to play and could develop into one of the shrewdest pick-ups of the summer if Newcastle move decisively.
