Newcastle United are reportedly open to offers for Yoane Wissa in the upcoming transfer window.
This is a surprising stance from the Magpies, as the 29-year-old only arrived at St James’ Park last summer in a deal worth £55 million.
According to the i Paper, Newcastle are in the market for a specialist striker and would consider offers for Wissa.
However, they would have to take a significant loss on the forward, whose valuation has dropped steeply.
One interested Premier League club rates Wissa at around £15m-£20m.
The DR Congo international has endured a difficult campaign, as injuries have limited him to only four Premier League starts.
He has scored only once and is currently Eddie Howe’s fourth-choice striker.
Newcastle lost Alexander Isak to Liverpool, despite trying their best to keep him at the club.
Callum Wilson also left at the end of his contract, joining West Ham United on a free transfer.
Newcastle struggled to find a suitable replacement for Isak, as Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike rejected moves to the Tyneside club.
They ultimately signed Nick Woltemade in a record £69m deal. Wissa also arrived in a £55m move, but neither signing has worked out.
Woltemade made an explosive start to life in the Premier League, but his form has nosedived since, scoring one goal in his last 25 games.
