In a recent report, The i Paper claimed that Newcastle United could move in for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke this summer. It is understood that the Magpies have been alerted to the possibility of the English wide player becoming available for a transfer this off-season.

Madueke’s Good Run Of Form In The Premier League

Madueke enjoyed a decent campaign at the West London club as he managed to shine at times for them in the Premier League. The 23-year-old found the back of the net 11 times and secured five assists in 41 matches for Chelsea last season in various competitions.

The English wing wizard gave a good account of himself in the final third based on his average of 3.54 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he only kept 37.5% of his attempts on target. Still, Madueke distributed the ball relatively well in the opposition half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 77.4% in the English top flight (stats via fbref.com).

Madueke is under contract at the London club until the summer of 2030 which could make it difficult for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

What Will Madueke Add To Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe’s Side?

Madueke is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and can strike the ball with venom from long range.

However, the English talent has to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opposition goal. Madueke is primarily a right-winger but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. He is quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Newcastle.

Madueke would add more pace and goals to Eddie Howe’s frontline. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting place at St. James’ Park next season.

At 23, Madueke has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good option for the Magpies to pursue in this transfer period.
