Newcastle United are among several Premier League clubs showing keen interest in signing AFC Bournemouth youngster Dean Huijsen in the summer transfer window.
The Magpies are in the race for a top-four finish this season, and they could lift a major trophy by beating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final later this month.
Newcastle will be looking to bolster their defence this summer, and as per the Daily Mail, they are interested in signing the 19-year-old defender.
Eddie Howe’s side are likely to face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.
The report adds that Huijsen will be the subject of major interest from European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, and there is a growing feeling that the youngster could be one of the players who could leave Bournemouth eventually.
Milos Kerkez, Antoine Semenyo and Illia Zabarnyi are some of the players linked with a move away from the Cherries, and Huijsen could be in high demand.
Newcastle will have to pay a fee in the region of £50 million for Huijsen, which is his release clause.
Huijsen has managed 21 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals. He has emerged as one of the most promising defenders in the league, and there is a feeling that he might leave for one of the continent’s elite clubs.
In that case, it would be wise for Newcastle to look for options elsewhere. Having said that, Newcastle could still be an attractive option for the young defender if they can offer him European football next season.
