Another 11 days until Newcastle United play again.
These ridiculous international breaks depriving us of proper football.
It is Newcastle v Brighton up next at St James’ Park on Saturday 19 October.
One thing an international break does do, is give us a chance to take a breather, to look at where we are.
These have been the Premier League results so far for Newcastle United in 2024/25:
Newcastle 1 Southampton 0
Bournemouth 1 Newcastle 1
Newcastle 2 Tottenham 1
Wolves 1 Newcastle 2
Fulham 3 Newcastle 1
Newcastle 1 Man City 1
Everton 0 Newcastle 0
Played 7 Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 1 Points 12
Those same Premier League fixtures and the results for Newcastle United in 2023/24:
Newcastle 4 Luton 4 (Luton came up through the play-offs in 2022/23, same as Southampton in 2023/24)
Bournemouth 2 Newcastle 0
Newcastle 4 Tottenham 0
Wolves 2 Newcastle 2
Fulham 0 Newcastle 1
Newcastle 2 Man City 3
Everton 3 Newcastle 0
Played 7 Won 2 Drawn 2 Lost 3 Points 8
The reality is that Newcastle United are four points ahead of schedule, compared to the results in the same fixtures last season.
No, it hasn’t been perfect, but it has been far from the disaster some people want to make it out to be.
A lot of factors have contributed to making this a very difficult start for Eddie Howe and I think he has coped really well, taking everything into consideration.
With the likes of Isak, Wilson and others expected back after this latest stupid international break, no reason why United can’t then push on and performances continue on the up, plus start scoring significantly more goals as NUFC are able to get back on the front foot.
Newcastle United upcoming match schedule, confirmed so far to end of November:
Wednesday 30 October – Newcastle v Chelsea (7.45pm) Sky Sports+
Saturday 2 November – Newcastle v Arsenal (12.30pm) TNT Sports
