PSG face one of the toughest schedules in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League league phase. The French champions will be eager to make a strong opening statement as the defending champions.
Key matches include clashes with Bayern Munich and Barcelona, while Tottenham Hotspur also appear on the schedule, setting up a near-immediate rematch of their recent Super Cup showdown.
Newcastle United and Athletic Bilbao are also on PSG’s path, alongside Bayer Leverkusen, Atalanta, and Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon, all standing between the French side and a spot in the knockout stage.

In his latest column for Ensemble PSG, Zach Lowy, co-creator of Breaking The Lines and freelance football writer, put together a prediction piece for PSG in the league phase. The last opponent for the Parisians in the league phase will be Newcastle United, as these two sides will clash on January 28, 2026.
As result, the teams as they look might not be the same as this contest will go on during the January transfer window. Nonetheless, Lowy believes that the Parisians will come out on top.
“PSG will host Newcastle at the Parc de Princes on January 28 in their final league phase match,” Lowy wrote. “Similar to Sporting, Newcastle have also been deprived of an elite Swedish striker after Alexander Isak got his wish to join Liverpool on deadline day for a league record fee. The Magpies struggled to refurbish their squad due to their future being tied to the Isak saga, and it’s shown on the pitch with Newcastle taking one point from three, failing to score in two of them.
“The onus is now on the late arrivals of Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to form a big-man-little-man partnership, but even if they can mesh together, they’ll have a difficult time replacing Isak’s output. We’re expecting PSG to finalize their league phase with a win against Newcastle. Prediction: 3-0 (Win).”
