Newcastle United striker William Osula and Eintracht Frankfurt have reached a verbal agreement in principle over a loan move in the winter transfer window, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Newcastle United star was linked with an exit away from the St James’ Park club in the summer but it fell through.
Frankfurt agreed personal terms with Osula at the time, but Magpies manager Eddie Howe did not sanction the move as he wanted to hold on to the 22-year-old.
The Danish striker has only started one Premier League game so far this term, coming off the bench nine times as he is behind summer arrival Nick Woltemade.
Yoane Wissa is also set to return to action soon for Newcastle having suffered a couple of relapses since his arrival from Brentford in the summer.
Osula will find himself behind the DR Congo international striker too if he remains with the Magpies beyond the winter transfer window, and an exit makes sense for both parties.
A loan deal is perfect as Newcastle can decide against selling him to the Bundesliga club if he ends up impressing.
They could also decide to sell him to another club for more than €20 million should his value skyrocket in the coming months after some impressive performances.
Osula is desperate to play regularly having featured for just 22 minutes in the Champions League this term, and Frankfurt are ready to hand him much-needed playing opportunities.
The striker is not the only first-team player likely to leave the Toons during the winter, with Crystal Palace looking to snap up English midfielder Joe Willock.
Newcastle are expected to sell the former Arsenal star if they can bring in AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit as his replacement.
Howe needs quality squad depth to compete strongly in the second half of 2025-26 as the Magpies eye another impressive campaign after the success of last season.
