Newcastle United have reignited their interest in Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga as a transfer target this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Elanga has impressed since his £15 million move from Manchester United to Forest in July 2023, contributing six goals and 11 assists in 38 Premier League appearances during the 2024–25 season.

His displays helped Nuno Espirito Santo’s men become the first team to double their points tally from the previous campaign en route to a seventh-place finish, which will see Forest play Conference League football.

However, Elanga could be featuring in the Champions League next season with Newcastle now keen on landing him.

Back in 2024, the Magpies approached Forest with a £35 million offer for Elanga, which was promptly rejected.

Subsequently, Newcastle increased their bid to £50 million on transfer deadline day, only for Forest to turn down the improved offer as well, reflecting their desire to retain the services of the Sweden international.

Off the back of a stellar year, Forest are expected to demand a sizeable fee for Elanga, although it is unclear whether the 23-year-old would be keen on leaving the City Ground as things stand.

Nonetheless, Newcastle are ready to push for Elanga once again amid their search for a new right winger since Miguel Almiron departed.

Eddie Howe’s side were strongly linked with a move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who is, however, now widely expected to join Manchester United.

Newcastle are wasting no time moving on from their pursuit of Mbeumo and have also been linked with a move for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.

Back in the Champions League for the second time in three years, they will be keen to give a better account of themselves than their group-stage exit in the 2023/24 edition.
