Newcastle United are interested in bringing Victor Osimhen to St. James’ Park, according to TuttoJuve.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are among a number of clubs who are keen on a deal for Osimhen in the summer transfer window.
The Italian news outlet has reported that Manchester United would love to land the Napoli-owned striker in the summer.
It would be a dream come true for Man United, but there are other English clubs that are showing interest in the Nigeria international, who is on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli at the moment.
TuttoJuve has revealed that the 26-year-old striker is also “in the crosshairs of Juventus, Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United and Aston Villa”.
Osimhen has a release clause of €75 million (£63.15 million) in his contract at Napoli, according to the report.
The striker has scored 23 goals and given five assists in 29 matches in all competitions for Galatasaray during his loan spell so far this season.
Former Man United head coach Jose Mourinho, now in charge of Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce, described Osimhen as “world-class striker” on AS Roma’s official website in December 2023.
Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world, and there is no doubt that he would be a superb signing for Newcastle.
The Magpies could end up in the Premier League top four this season, and the chance to play in the UEFA Champions League could be tempting for the Nigerian star.
However, speculation that Newcastle are interested in a summer deal for Osimhen is worrying regarding the future of Alexander Isak.
Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Isak from Newcastle in the summer transfer window, according to a report in The Times in February.
It is hard to see Newcastle have both Osimhen and Isak in the starting line-up. The former could be seen as the latter’s replacement at the Premier League club.
With Osimhen costing over £60 million, perhaps Newcastle are planning in the event that they have to sell Isak for big money and bring in a suitable replacement.
