Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães (28) is reported to have reached an agreement with Arsenal on the basis of a five-year contract, according to information from L’Équipe.
The Gunners, whose initial firm bid of €70m was rejected by the Magpies’ management, are expected to launch a fresh bid shortly, this time closer to the €90m demanded by Newcastle’s management, who have already been informed by their player of his desire to join the London club.
A transfer which, should it go through, could also benefit Olympique Lyonnais. Sold for €50m (including bonuses) to the St James’ Park side in January 2022, the Brazilian, if sold this time for around €80m, could thus bring in €6m for his former club, which had included a 20 per cent share of any future capital gain in the deal.
This would be a significant windfall for OL, which would, in that case, see its finances regain some of their former lustre.
