Neymar has returned to on-pitch work with Brazil, completing his first session on grass since injuring his right calf and entering the physical transition phase in the United States, moving a step closer to a possible World Cup return.
According to Diario Do Peixe, after days of intensive treatment, physiotherapy, strengthening and controlled gym work, the No 10 returned to training under CBF medical supervision. His progress is viewed as positive and within the original timelines.
New imaging on Monday 15 indicated recovery is on track, allowing the shift to field activities. Clearance for ball work will be gradual, in line with the medical plan.
Neymar sustained a grade 2 injury to his right calf during Santos v Coritiba in the Campeonato Brasileiro. Since linking up with the national team in late May, he has followed an intensive programme with daily load management and constant oversight from CBF staff.
Carlo Ancelotti’s staff hope to have the forward available during the group stage. Involvement against Haiti is being handled cautiously, and he could be named on the bench next time out, dependent on his response in training over the coming days.
Brazil face Haiti on Friday 19 at 21:30 Brasília time in Group C. They opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Morocco.
