Neymar's recovery from a right calf injury is progressing. The Brazilian federation announced that a Monday MRI showed improvement within the medical plan, and he could begin on-field work this week.
If the next steps go smoothly, he is expected to start a field-based transition in the coming days, working under the national team's physiotherapists and fitness staff.
He is in the United States with the squad but has not yet trained with the ball. Since joining up, he has followed an intensive rehabilitation programme including physiotherapy, muscle strengthening and load management.
On Saturday he used an anti-gravity treadmill to reduce impact during walking and running, a tool aimed at accelerating recovery without raising the risk of re-injury.
Neymar sustained a grade two injury to his right calf during Santos' match against Coritiba in the Campeonato Brasileiro. Further tests on 27 May confirmed the problem and the staff opted for conservative treatment.
The medical team remain cautious, given the calf's workload in matches and training, and he will return to full activity only when the risk of aggravation is ruled out.
He will not face Egypt in the friendly. He is working to be available to Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil's World Cup opener against Morocco on 13 June, though a conservative timeline could push a return to 18 June against Haiti.
