Neymar has again been omitted from Carlo Ancelotti’s 23-man Brazil squad for the latest fixtures before the final 2026 World Cup list, with the coach stressing the forward is not yet fully fit and could only go if he reaches 100%.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Ancelotti attended Santos’ match against Mirassol in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, but the No 10 did not feature.

Ancelotti said Neymar could make the World Cup if he arrives in peak condition, adding the player must keep working and show his quality alongside improved fitness. He said the staff share the view that Neymar is not at 100% and will continue to monitor him in the coming weeks.

The coach explained the trip to Mirassol was scheduled to watch Mirassol v Santos and to show respect to both teams, the club and the city, which received them well. He added there was nothing more to add, noting Neymar did not play and that should be respected.

Neymar has not featured for Brazil since 2023, when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Uruguay. He remains the national team’s record scorer with 79 goals and hopes to be selected for 2026. This was the final squad before the official World Cup list.

This season he has four appearances, two goals and two assists. In the most recent round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, he played in the 1-1 draw between Santos and Corinthians at Vila Belmiro.
