Neymar said he scored and provided an assist in a behind-closed-doors training match against the under-20s at CT Rei Pelé on Saturday morning, part of Santos’ preparations for the coming fixtures. According to Diario Do Peixe, he described the run-out as valuable for senior players and academy prospects.

The session comprised two 45-minute periods as Cuca sharpened shape and fitness. After a spell without games, Neymar viewed the exercise as useful for rhythm.

Cuca’s initial XI featured Brazão in goal, Igor Vinícius, Lucas Veríssimo, Luan Peres and Barreal across the back, with Oliva, Gustavinho and Neymar in midfield. Rony, Moisés and Thaciano led the attack.

Barreal filled in at left-back with Escobar rested as a precaution, a decision not linked to injury. He should be available to face Remo.

In the second period, the staff trialled a back three, with Arão dropping into defence. The workout focused on tactical tweaks and rhythm, with the senior side thought to have had the edge. No official score was released.
