Manchester United pulled out yet another rabbit from the hat in stoppage time, leaving the London Stadium with a point from their Premier League clash against West Ham United on Tuesday.

Benjamin Sesko stepped forward to score yet another crucial late goal, and he will be chomping at the bit to start games from now on.

The performance was poor, and showed that Michael Carrick will struggle to deal with two games a week with such a thin squad.

However, the manner of the draw will have pleased the caretaker head coach, and former United midfielder Nicky Butt alluded to the same after the match.

Butt predicts Carrick to guide United to third

Speaking on TNT Sports, Butt also predicted his former club to go on and finish third, which INEOS will definitely classify as a successful season.

“Michael will be putting this to bed now. He’ll probably be sitting there thinking that feels more like a win than a draw.

“It keeps the run going, undefeated in five. Everton is a totally different game. He’ll work towards that, he’ll get the team going again.

“He’ll get the confidence back up. This was going to happen sooner or later. I think this is a good point to take back up the road.

Antonio agrees

“Everton, they can go on and win that. I think they’ll finish third or fourth this season and that will be a really good season for Michael and United.”

Former West Ham star Michail Antonio also agreed with Butt’s assessment, claiming United are the most in-form team at the moment and there is no reason why they cannot secure Champions League qualification.

“I still think they’ve got a great opportunity to do it,” Antonio said. “Right now, they’re the most in-form team right now. Beat Arsenal, beat Man City, unbeaten in five.

“Today, obviously, they would have wanted the win, but I feel coming here is a difficult game, especially with West Ham difficult to break down. Had to get a striker on toe to get more crosses in the box. They’ve done well, so I couldn’t see why they don’t finish in the top four.”

United will return to action in two weeks with a trip to Everton.
