Niclas Füllkrug to leave West Ham this January – talks with German clubs underway | OneFootball

Niclas Füllkrug will leave West Ham United this January, according to Fabrizio Romano. 

Since arriving in the Premier League with the Hammers, the German forward has struggled to nail down a starting role. Since arriving in 2024, the 32-year-old has made 27 appearances, scoring three and assisting on two occasions. 

Füllkrug is currently tending to a torn muscle injury, but is expected to return later this month. With the news of the pending departure, it’s unlikely that head coach Nuno Espírito Santo will opt to use the forward too much. 

Where Next?

So, where will Füllkrug go next in order to play football regularly once again? It’s not yet clear which clubs the forward is currently talking to. 

However, somewhat unsurprisingly, Füllkrug’s representatives are speaking to a number of Bundesliga clubs as well as a couple outside his native homeland. 

A return to the Bundesliga seems to make the most sense for Füllkrug. Looking at the teams who would be in the market for a striker this winter, you maybe can’t look past Hamburger SV and VfL Wolfsburg. Bottom side, Heidenheim wouldn’t turn down the opportunity either, but whether they can afford his wages would be a different question.
