Schlotterbeck picked up the injury in the opening 15 minutes of the match and was replaced by Antonio Rüdiger. Interestingly, the two could be team-mates next season, as Schlotterbeck has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

This season, the player has made 46 appearances across all competitions for club and country, scoring six goals - one of them in Germany's opening World Cup match against Curaçao (7-1).
