Nico Williams has hit back at a racist message from an Athletic supporter aimed at Samuel Eto'o, posted as old incidents were revisited online. According to El Correo, the winger replied bluntly after comments resurfaced about a spitting incident involving Unai Expósito two decades ago.

The exchange followed a club post on Wednesday marking 20 years since Julen Guerrero’s final game for Athletic, a 3-1 win.

An anonymous X account, @AthTribunerosno, shifted the topic, boasting of being in the North Stand at San Mamés for Athletic 3-1 Barcelona and claiming to have taunted Eto'o about the Expósito incident with racist chanting.

Another user, named Kepa, added a further racist line, attributing it to Clemente. Williams snapped back, telling the poster he was at least an idiot.

In March, Nico and his brother Iñaki fronted La Liga’s anti-racism campaign alongside Dion Lopy of Almería, Bambo Diaby of Elche, Omar El Hilali of Espanyol and Lago Junior of Lugo.

Two years ago, Nico also answered racist posts about his selection for the national team, telling one user to turn off the radio and calling him ignorant. Iñaki has likewise received racist abuse at grounds such as Espanyol’s.
