Rio de Janeiro woke on Tuesday morning to a digital billboard unveiling Nike’s campaign for Corinthians’ 2026/27 kits, centred on the club’s storied 1976 invasion.
According to Meu Timao, prominent panels in Leblon welcomed people to the city and asserted it as Corinthians territory. The creative also flagged a May release, with shirts inspired by the 1976 event.
The home strip is expected to opt for an off-white shade, nodding to vintage shirts, with a retro crest. Its design draws on Rio’s pavements and on supporters’ flags from that historic day, and uses a round neck in a faux Y style. Nike’s new template has already featured, for example, on England’s World Cup kit.
The away shirt will bring back the traditional stripes, this time with off-white detailing over black. A Y-shaped collar and light-toned sleeves reference the model used that season, and the retro crest also returns.
New goalkeeper shirts are expected to carry a zigzag pattern that creates a 3D effect in multiple colours. The template is likely to be standardised across Nike-supplied teams.
The campaign pays tribute to the day more than 70,000 Corinthians fans travelled from São Paulo to fill the Maracanã for a one-off Brasileiro semi-final.
