Niko Kovac complains that Harry Kane is unfairly awarded too many Bundesliga fouls | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac had his complaints about the refereeing in Saturday evening’s Bundesliga loss to Bayern Munich. Kovac – who did receive a yellow card from match official Bastian Dankert in the 75th-minute – complained that Dankert called a poor game. Dankert himself also responded to Kovac’s grievances.

“Dankert reffed in such a fashion tonight that he should have whistled himself down,” Kovac groused while speaking to Sky Germany. “He whistled down everything. It was so petty. For me, his petty whistling throughout the course of the game was clearly wrong and he should acknowledge it.

“My team’s first half wasn’t good, but his whole game wasn’t good,” Kovac continued. “I have to say something about that. We received so many yellow cards [four including Kovac’s]. The amount of times Harry Kane drew a whistle. He wouldn’t have gotten 20 percent of those in England.

Kovac noted that he felt the yellow card Dankert awarded him was “okay” and also said he would accept a fine from the league for his comments. Dankert smiled widely when asked about Kovac’s outburst.

“I’ve known Niko for a while,” the veteran of over 175 top division matches noted. “Everything on the field was fair. [My officiating team] did a good job even if two or three tackles might have been misjudged. We’re satisfied.“
