Robin van Persie cannot relax this summer as his future at Feyenoord hangs in the balance. Dévy Rigaux, who joined the Eredivisie side from Club Brugge, was speaking during an introductory press conference and indicated that he wants to look at the past season before making any decisions. Rigaux did confirm that he has spoken to van Persie already, but did not confirm that he will be the head coach next season. As reported by ESPN, the former Club Brugge man said ‘We will take the time to analyze everything that has taken place here over the past season. In that regard, it is now up to us to get things clear and sharp before we make a decision‘.

Van Persie took over at Feyenoord midway through last season after starting his head coaching career at Heerenveen. Since joining, he has averaged 1.7 points per game and won 52% of his matches. Feyenoord started the season in fantastic form and looked set for a title challenge. However, near the end of 2025 they began to fall a part somewhat. In the end, the club finished second, but they were 19 points behind league winners PSV. European football was secured, but the gap between Feyenoord and PSV has put pressure on van Persie going into the summer.
