Dani Alves one of the most decorated players in football history has taken remarkable turn in his life path.
At 42 years old the former Barcelona & Brazil defender has traded stadiums for sermons, re emerging publicly at evangelical church in Girona, northern Spain where he spoke as self declared "Disciple of Christ Jesus".
After spending 14 months in prison over sexual assault accusation — a charge he was later acquitted of by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia — Alves says faith saved him from despair.
Last weekend, he appeared at the Elim Girona Church addressing worshippers with a message of renewal and gratitude.
"You must take God seriously and have faith, I'm living proof of that. In my darkest moment — a messenger of God came to me and led me to faith. I made pact with Him to serve Him while He took care of my home"
Witnesses at the event said Alves sang, prayed and spoke passionately about his transformation from fame and chaos to life of spiritual discipline.
Since leaving prison, Alves has embraced completely new , quiet life focused entirely on his wife and their new baby girl.
His presence on social media transformed. The posts that used to be showcase of football highlights and celebrity life are now dedicated solely to Bible verses and messages of faith.
The man once famous for his wild parties & vibrant outgoing personality , now chasing what he calls spiritual peace.
"Love means loving when someone doesn’t deserve it, I’ve learned that God’s power is greatest in the storm" Alves shared during sermon reflecting on his journey.
