Igor Tudor says there is “no time for excuses” as he prepares to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur for the first time following their poor run of form.
The 47-year-old has been appointed interim manager until the end of the season after the club sacked Thomas Frank last week, with Tottenham just five points above the Premier League relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.
“I’m coming here knowing the situation is not easy,” he said, speaking to the media. “There is no time to find excuses. The position of the club is one nobody can accept.”
Spurs are also dealing with a number of injuries, with 11 players currently unavailable. Tudor said his first priority is to rebuild confidence among the players who are fit. “The team needs confidence and courage,” he said. “We must give everything to improve quickly.”
Frank was dismissed after a 2-1 defeat by Newcastle extended Tottenham’s winless run to eight league games. Tudor’s first match in charge will come against rivals Arsenal, as Spurs look to move away from danger and regain stability before the end of the season
