FLW’s Norwich City fan pundit has commented on the Canaries being linked with a move for Man Utd defender Harry Amass.

Norwich City kept their very slim hopes of a play-off place alive after getting the better of Bristol City last weekend.

The Canaries battled back from a goal down in the opening two minutes to prevail 4-2 at Ashton Gate, inflicting Roy Hodgson’s first defeat of his Bristol City rein since taking interim charge.

Mohamed Toure notched a memorable hat-trick to put Norwich out of sight while Jose Cordoba added a fourth, as Sam Bell’s 93rd minute strike was purely a consolation for the hosts.

A vital three points keeps Philippe Clement’s men in the hunt for a top six spot, with the Norfolk-based outfit currently eight points off sixth-placed Hull City with three games remaining of the term.

Norwich would of course have to be faultless in those final three games and hope all of Hull, Wrexham and Derby County slip up in the process, so it’s highly likely that Norwich will be playing Championship football next season.

However, there is a lot of room for optimism given the remarkable transformation the team has been on under Clement’s guidance, with the Canaries easily having a crack at promotion back to the big time if it wasn’t for their struggles with Liam Manning for the first portion of the campaign.

The Norwich hierarchy will undoubtedly have one eye on their transfer plans for next term given their top six hopes are almost remote, and that has been proven, with the club linked with bringing Manchester United defender Harry Amass back to Carrow Road.

The 19-year-old only made one appearance for Norwich after linking up in East Anglia during the January transfer window, as a serious hamstring injury just days into his stint meant his season was brought to an abrupt end.

But, the Canaries are weighing up whether to hand Amass a fresh opportunity to impress, with the former Sheffield Wednesday loanee also being eyed up by Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers.

With this in mind, FLW’s Norwich fan pundit has commented on whether he would welcome Amass back to Carrow Road for another loan spell.

Norwich City ‘issue’ raised over Harry Amass return

Speaking to Football League World, Norwich City fan pundit Zeke Downes admitted he would be ‘keen’ on seeing Harry Amass make a return to Carrow Road, but revealed his worry over whether the defender can recapture this season’s form after such a serious and lengthy injury lay-off.

Zeke told FLW: “I would be keen on this. The only issue is he’s had a really bad injury, so it depends on how he comes back from that.

“If we can monitor that, see what his condition is nearer the start of the season, then that could be a good thing to do.

“He’s obviously got a lot of talent. There was a reason why we brought him in the first place, and I think all of our January signings, obviously apart from him, did really well, so I would imagine he would have also done really well.

“I would be up for it, but we don’t want another left-back who is always injured, so we will have to monitor how he will be and if he can get back to what he was.”

Harry Amass worth the gamble after recent Championship success

At just 19, Harry Amass has proven he can make the step-up in class to the Championship, with the defender so impressive during his short stay at Sheffield Wednesday.

High-quality performances saw Amass earn back-to-back player of the month awards during November and December 2025, as voted by the Owls supporters, with his energetic displays catching the eye on the second tier stage.

While he would have been so desperate to carry the momentum on at Norwich, a serious hamstring issue has disrupted his plans, and the first big test of his career will be to see if he can get back to his best in such adversity.

This will be the true challenge to see if Amass is a top player in waiting, but the belief and drive should be there given he took to Championship life like a duck to water.

His technical assurance, athleticism and sheer physicality sets him up to be a big success in the Championship, provided he makes a return, and it’s a gamble worth taking for Norwich, who could make their left side so much stronger with his presence.

Therefore, the Canaries will have to act quickly to secure a deal, with QPR waiting in the wings to swoop in and steal one of the Championship’s brightest prospects.
