Norwich City defender Kellen Fisher has recently been linked with a move to Everton.

As reported by Football Insider, David Moyes’ side are plotting a move for the 21-year-old.

There has been no suggestion that the Toffees are in any advanced negotiations for Fisher’s services but hold a keen interest in the full-back.

The young defender only played seven minutes in Norwich’s season-opening defeat at the hands of Millwall, with Jack Stacey given the nod at right-back by Liam Manning.

Football League World’s Norwich City fan pundit, Zeke Downes, would be disappointed to see the Canaries cash in on Fisher, unless it is for a sizeable fee.

Norwich City told to take firm Kellen Fisher transfer stance

“I don't think that we should be entertaining any offers for Kellen Fisher,” stated Zeke.

“Because he's very young and he will play a big part in our team. Yes, Jack Stacey might be first choice in terms of our wing-backs, but Fisher is a very different player, and he offers a lot more defensively.

“So, if and when we change to a four at the back, which might happen, Fisher will be very useful and he's more of one for the future than Stacey is.

“Yes, Stacey's got a new contract, so he's obviously here for the long term, but unless we get a decent offer for Fisher, I wouldn't be entertaining anything because we're going to need him.

“If you lose him now, then you've got to replace him, and we know that Fisher's a really good right-back in this league.

“But then also on the other hand, you wouldn't begrudge him a move to the Premier League so it would need to be, I think in my mind, it would need to be an offer of like £10m for us to entertain that.”

Kellen Fisher could be better suited to remain at Carrow Road

Although the appeal of a switch to the top-flight will be extremely appealing to Fisher, it may not be the best move for his long-term development.

It’s unlikely that the 21-year-old will slot into the Everton starting 11, especially if he doesn’t currently enjoy that luxury at Carrow Road.

With a contract running until the summer of 2028, there are opportunities for Norwich to cash in on the defender in years to come, when he is more experienced and could perhaps go for a higher price.

Therefore, avoiding the temptation of a move to the Premier League could be Fisher’s best bet.
