INEOS are well aware that the additions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are not enough for Ruben Amorim to enter 2025/2026 with any chance of competing amongst their rivals at the top end of the table.
As such, Manchester United continue to be linked with a host of stars who could potentially be pursued when Mbeumo’s arrival is signed and sealed.
The likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike have been continuously brought up in conversations regarding the Red Devils’ targets. Now, there’s a new name on the list.

As per German football expert Christian Falk, United are mulling over a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha.
The four-capped German international has emerged as a figure INEOS admire amid concerns over Amorim’s current options in midfield, which lessened when Christian Eriksen departed as a free agent after the final game of the 2024/2025 campaign.
Nmecha has played an integral role in the middle of the park for Dortmund since he signed from Wolfsburg in 2023 and has now accumulated 68 appearances across two seasons, scoring eight goals and assisting five.
Over the last 12 months, he has earned a respectable 7.04 Sofascore rating for his performances at club level — even whilst missing a full month of the season through a ligament injury.
Nmecha is now partaking in the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup tournament over in the United States and notched his first goal last weekend in a dramatic 4-3 comeback win over Mamelodi Sundowns.
Ex-Dortmund boss Nuri Sahin previously hailed the 24-year-old as an ‘exceptional’ player to have in his squad, making it no surprise the Bundesliga outfit are so reluctant to sanction his exit this early into his Signal Iduna Park tenure.
“Manchester United are interested in Felix Nmecha,” Falk told CaughtOffside this week.
“The international (market value €28m) has a growing market in the Premier League, speaks English as a second language, and already knows Manchester from his youth days at United’s rivals [Manchester] City.
“Dortmund are fighting for their player and do not want to sell him under any circumstances.”
