Joaquin Correa has faced criticism for having very little impact in yesterday’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Hellas Verona.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, argue that the Argentine did not make the most of his opportunity in the starting eleven.
Joaquin Correa got the start for Inter Milan against Hellas Verona yesterday evening.
It was little surprise to see the 30-year-old former Lazio and Sevilla forward in the Nerazzurri lineup.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi had massively rotated his starting eleven for the match. There was little doubt that he was preserving key players for Tuesday’s match against Barcelona.
And since Correa is not a part of Inter’s Champions League squad, yesterday looked like the right time for him to allow other forwards in the squad the night off.

In the view of the Gazzetta, there was nothing particularly bad about Correa’s performance yesterday.
However, just as significantly, there was very little good.
Correa had no shortage of touches of the ball. The Argentine showed for it, and always seemed to want the ball played to feet.
But it was a fairly anonymous display, in which Correa showed little of his real quality.
Joaquin Correa never looked to make dangerous runs in behind. Nor did he win many fouls.
It was a performance in which the 30-year-old, soon to leave Inter, kept play moving along nicely enough. However, he did little else beyond that.
