According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest have Marcus Tavernier on their transfer shortlist and have admired the 26-year-old for some time, but Bournemouth are determined not to sell this month after parting company with Antoine Semenyo.

Tavernier extended his contract only a few months ago, committing to the Vitality Stadium until 2029. He has become a key figure for Andoni Iraola.

Since arriving from Middlesbrough in 2022, he has made 112 appearances. This season he has featured 21 times, with 19 starts, and is one of only three outfield players to appear in all of Bournemouth’s Premier League matches, often in a role similar to Morgan Gibbs-White.

In October he captained the Cherries in a 2-0 win over Sean Dyche’s side, scoring the second of his four Premier League goals this term.

Forest do have options in attacking areas, but James McAtee has struggled to show his best when Gibbs-White is absent and has been linked with a loan away from the City Ground. This window is likely to focus on finding support for Igor Jesus up front. Chris Wood is injured, Taiwo Awoniyi has had fitness concerns and Arnaud Kalimuendo has gone on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt only months after joining.
