Nottingham Forest’s ambitions for the upcoming summer transfer window are becoming increasingly clear. As reported by FootballTransfers, Forest are setting their sights high, targeting proven Premier League and European performers as they seek to evolve under Nuno Espirito Santo.
“Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer, FootballTransfers has been told.” This is a move that, on paper, would represent a major coup for the East Midlands club.
Guehi, 24, has blossomed into one of England’s standout central defenders since joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021. His consistency, composure, and leadership have drawn admiring glances from several top Premier League sides. FootballTransfers reports that Guehi has been identified by Forest as a “potential replacement for Nikola Milenkovic or Murillo,” both of whom are attracting significant attention after impressive seasons.

While Forest would prefer to keep their current defensive stalwarts, it’s understood that the club would not obstruct their exits should substantial offers materialise. Should either leave, Guehi is firmly on the radar to step in and solidify the back line. His 40 appearances this season, coupled with three goals, highlight not only his defensive prowess but also his ability to contribute in the opposition box.
However, securing Guehi’s signature won’t be straightforward. “FootballTransfers understands that Champions League football is likely to play a key role in Guehi’s decision,” with Chelsea among those circling for his return.
Forest’s ambitions do not stop at strengthening the backline. FootballTransfers reveals: “In addition to Guehi, we understand that Ademola Lookman is also a target for Nottingham Forest as they look to bolster their attacking options this summer.”
Lookman, enjoying a sensational campaign at Atalanta, has amassed 18 goals and seven assists across 36 games. His dynamic performances have thrust him into the spotlight, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €49.7 million.
Forest’s interest in Lookman represents a continuation of their intent to recruit players capable of providing immediate impact and future growth. His versatility across the front three would offer Nuno valuable tactical flexibility and an injection of pace and creativity in the final third.

Forest’s aspirations to land both Guehi and Lookman are ambitious, reflective of a club looking to consolidate their Premier League status and push for greater heights. Yet, Champions League qualification – or lack thereof – could hinder their chances with targets like Guehi, who naturally craves the biggest stages.
Financial constraints and competition from established European sides will make both moves difficult, but Forest’s proactive planning is a positive signal to supporters who want to see ambition matched with action.
For Nottingham Forest fans, hearing about the club’s pursuit of players like Marc Guehi and Ademola Lookman is incredibly exciting. It signals a clear intent to not just survive in the Premier League, but to build a squad that can genuinely compete in the top half.
Marc Guehi would be a phenomenal signing. He’s not just one of the most consistent centre-backs in England, he’s a future leader, someone who could anchor our defence for years. Losing Milenkovic or Murillo would be a blow, but replacing them with someone of Guehi’s pedigree would soften that significantly.
Ademola Lookman’s addition would be equally thrilling. Forest have sometimes lacked that cutting edge in attack, and Lookman’s pace, trickery and clinical finishing could transform our frontline. His record in Serie A speaks for itself, and he’s a player who knows the Premier League too.
Of course, the realities are tough — attracting players of their calibre without European football is a huge ask. But seeing the club even try for these names shows ambition that fans can get behind. If we can get one of them across the line, it would represent a big step forward for Nottingham Forest.
