Nottingham Forest have made a late and unexpected move to sign Atlético Madrid right-back Nahuel Molina, according to reports from Diario AS journalist Jorge García Hermida.
The Premier League side submitted an offer for the Argentine international in recent hours, with initial discussions centring around a loan deal. However, all possibilities remain open, including a permanent transfer depending on negotiations between the clubs.
Molina, 27, has been a regular fixture in Diego Simeone’s side since arriving from Udinese in 2022. He played a key role in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup triumph and has made over 80 appearances for Atleti. Despite his consistent performances, the signing of youth prospect Marc Pubill, who signed from Almeria this week, has opened the door for Molina’s possible departure.
Forest, who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season, see Molina as a potential upgrade at right-back and a player with the European pedigree to make an immediate impact.
No agreement has yet been reached but discussions are expected to continue in the coming days.
