Nottingham Forest have joined Everton in the race to sign Fenerbahce forward Youssef En-Nesyri.
The Morocco international is a transfer target for Premier League clubs this month, with Fenerbahce open to his exit, either on loan or in a permanent transfer.
Everton are understood to have submitted an initial loan offer for the 28-year-old, with a purchase option of around €20m (£17.3m).
However, Sky Germany are reporting that Nottingham Forest have now joined the chase. Forest want to add another forward, following Chris Wood’s long-term knee injury and the loan exit of Arnaud Kalimuendo to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Everton are thought to remain frontrunners and the preferred choice for En-Nesyri, despite the attraction of European football at the City Ground.
En-Nesyri is currently with the Morocco squad at the Africa Cup of Nations. The host nation beat Nigeria on penalties on Wednesday night, to set up a final clash with Senegal. Any deal for the forward will wait until after that fixture this weekend.
En-Nesyri is one of several forwards Everton are considering, with The Athletic claiming the Toffees are also weighing up an approach for Callum Wilson.
The veteran is free to leave West Ham after just six month, following recent signings of Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe.
