Rich Ferraro (1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast): The excitement of a new season, tempered by the fact that we never beat Brentford!
In theory, this is the best chance we have had for a while to overcome the Bees, as they rebuild after the loss of a very good gaffer and some key players. Forest will still want to add more players, but apart from replacing Elanga with Ndoye, the core of our team is still there.
The big concern is goals: where on earth are they going to come from? We only had one in pre-season, so hopefully we will actually test Kelleher in the Brentford net. I suspect that this will be a low-scoring encounter though.
Prediction: 1-0
TalkBees (TalkBees): The Premier League gods have done it again. An incredibly tricky opening fixture to greet Keith Andrews' Brentford as we enter our 5th Premier League season, and a new era for the club under new management.
The City Ground is notoriously a tough place to go to, especially in the opening game of a new season, and the summer that they've had in keeping hold of the majority of their fantastic squad from last season. The Gibbs-White factor on top of another impressive summer in the transfer window could prove to be the key to unlocking another historic season for The Reds.
However, we've got a job to do. Being hot favourites for relegation, we come into a new season yet again being the underdog. We're ok with that, we've done it before, and we'll do it again.
A summer of big losses and missed targets has tainted some of the impressive work we've done in the transfer window. A healthy balance of bringing through talent such as Antoni Milambo, Romelle Donovan, and the ever impressive Michael Kayode has been met with the incomings of the highly experienced Jordan Henderson, and Caoimhin Kelleher - a criminally underrated goalkeeper.
Without Yoane Wissa for certain, and potentially missing Kevin Schade and Caoimhin Kelleher, Sunday's fixture could get the better of us. It will be a tough outing for sure, however I can back the boys to deliver us a point to start off the new campaign.
