Nottingham Forest winger Jota Silva is reportedly closing in on a move to Olympiacos.

According to Sport24, the transfer is “in the final stage”, with the Portuguese wide man understood to have expressed a desire to join, attracted by the chance to work with head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar.

Reports in Greece differ on whether the deal will be permanent or a loan. Jota joined Forest from Vitoria Guimaraes in summer 2024 for an initial £6 million.

He spent last season on loan at Besiktas in Türkiye after a deadline day switch to Sporting Lisbon collapsed because of an administrative error. Besiktas held an option to buy but chose not to use it.

Last month Jota suggested that compatriot Vitor Pereira being in charge at Forest could hand him another Premier League opportunity. Pereira has since been sacked and is set to be replaced by Oliver Glasner.

He also indicated he would report for duty and aim for a strong season, whether at Forest or elsewhere. A move to Olympiacos would see him link up with another club owned by Evangelos Marinakis.
