With a little over a year to go, work on the Nou Mestalla is on schedule for an estimated summer 2027 opening, according to Superdeporte.
On site, 30 pillars and 21 compression rings have already been installed, underlining clear progress on the future home of Valencia.
Valencia, alongside FCC Construcción, is focused on assembling the roof structure. Horta Coslada and PFEIFER are delivering the support system, including bird’s nest supports on each pillar to tension the cables, plus scaffolding and protections for the stands.
The roof will weigh 4,800 tonnes and will be carried by 50 S355 steel pillars. It will incorporate a photovoltaic installation from Octopus Energy, the Sustainable Founding Partner, supporting on-site green energy generation.
Recent weeks have brought further steps forward, with more compression rings fitted, additional pillars and staircase towers installed, and the arrival of cables for the inner tension rings and the radials that link them to the outer compression ring.
The Nou Mestalla will be one of Spain’s most sustainable, avant-garde and innovative sporting infrastructures.
